Throughout this semester I have gained a better understanding of myself as a writer. The work I did learning about my writing process helped me reflect on what I could do to improve myself. With each new paper or assignment that I had to do I felt like I was growing more mature with my writing. After an entire semester of improving my writing I think the biggest area that needs improvement still is keeping track of my stapler.
Coming into this semester I thought that my intended audience
for every paper I write as an assignment was my professor. After learning about
the different audiences I now know that my intended audience does not have to
be my professor. I wrote my Literacy Narrative essay with the intended audience
being teachers within the K-12 grade levels. To me, writing for a specific
audience, one that won’t grade you, makes me more motivated to write. This is
because I’m writing for an audience that is genuinely interested instead of one
that is paid to read my shitty drafts.
Looking towards the future I think I’ll use the shitty first
drafts method the most. It made my own writing process much less stressful,
which in turn made writing less of a chore. It also motivated me to start
writing my papers well before the due date and edit and evaluate my papers much
more.
